Who we are
SwitcherMate Ltd (company number 16568958), registered at 8A Whalley Road, Accrington, BB5 1AA, trading as TILLD. Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under ZC080646. You can reach us about anything on this page at [email protected].
๐ The important distinction: whose data is whose
TILLD is software that shops use to run themselves. That means we hold two different kinds of personal information, under two different legal responsibilities, and which one applies decides who you should contact.
| We are the controller | We are a processor | |
|---|---|---|
| Whose data | The shop's own โ the owner, their staff, the account itself | The shop's customers โ people who order from a shop using TILLD |
| Who decides | We do | The shop does. We only hold and handle it on their instruction |
| Who to ask about it | Us | The shop. If you ask us, we will pass it on and tell you we have |
So if you bought something from a shop that uses TILLD and you want your details removed, the shop is the one who decides โ it is their customer record, not ours. We will help them action it, and we will never quietly overrule them.
What we hold, and why
If you run or work in a shop
- Your name, role and contact details โ so the shop can be run and we can reach you. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with the shop.
- Your sign-in PIN, stored only as a one-way hash โ we cannot read your PIN and cannot recover it. If it is forgotten it is reset, never retrieved.
- A record of actions taken in the app โ who booked a delivery in, who wrote stock off, who issued a refund. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest, and the shop's, in being able to answer "who did that". It is visible to the shop owner and to nobody else on their team.
If you buy from a shop that uses TILLD
- Your name, phone, email, and delivery address where relevant โ to take and fulfil your order.
- What you ordered, and loyalty points if the shop runs a scheme.
- We check that a phone number is a real, working number before a delivery order. We do not use it for anything else and we do not build a profile from it.
- We never see your full card number. Card payments are handled by Stripe; the numbers do not pass through or rest on our systems.
If you join the waiting list
- What you type into the form, and a hashed form of your IP address used only to stop the same machine submitting repeatedly. The address itself is not stored. Lawful basis: your consent, withdrawable at any time by emailing us.
Who else touches it
We use a small number of suppliers, each for one job, and none of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes:
| Supplier | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, the database, file storage | UK / EU |
| Stripe | Card payments โ they, not we, handle card details | UK / EU / US |
| Resend | Sending order emails and receipts | EU / US |
| Clerk | Customer accounts and sign-in | EU / US |
| Telnyx | Checking a phone number is real; sending verification codes | UK / EU / US |
| Reading a photographed supplier invoice, and the shopping assistant | EU / US | |
| Meta | Only where a shop has connected its own Facebook or Instagram page | EU / US |
Where a supplier processes data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.
Facebook and Instagram
A shop may choose to connect its own Facebook or Instagram page so that posts about its offers can be scheduled. If it does, we access only what is needed to publish those posts and read their basic performance. We do not access a shop's followers, their messages, or anyone's personal profile, and we never use anything obtained through Meta for advertising unrelated to that shop. A shop can disconnect at any time from within the app, and doing so revokes our access immediately.
How long we keep things
- Order and payment records: six years after the transaction, because HMRC requires it.
- Staff action records: two years, then deleted.
- Waiting-list entries: until you ask us to remove them, or two years without contact.
- Sign-in sessions: hours, not days.
Cookies
We use one cookie, to keep you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the app to work, so it does not require consent, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. There is no banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict or stop a particular use, or ask for it in a portable form. Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
If you are a customer of a shop, see the table at the top: your request goes to the shop, and we will pass it on rather than sit on it.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
